Have you ever noticed a cooler full of sand attached to your golf cart? Other than being (in our opinion) a supremely sad waste of space that a real cooler could fit into quite nicely, it DOES have a purpose.

Sometimes you'll see it in a cooler-like container attached to the golf cart, other times it's in a small plastic bottle. It might be just sand, it also could be a mix of seed and sand.

Either way, the purpose of this sand is if you create a divot while you are swinging the club (divot: a mark made in the grass made while you play). Courses highly encourage players to fill in their divots with sand to help the area grow back.

Treat the course right and it will treat you right. Well... no, it probably won't.
